ON THE FRONT LINES
Bryan Hicks is an accomplished professional photographer with over 11
years of experience. Starting his photographic career while still at
school, Bryan, at the ripe old age of 18, had his first photos published
way back in 1983 in "The Stars and Stripes" - a major US Military
newspaper.
This early success prompted a freelance photojournalist career, and
Bryan started supplying national magazines and journals with his
photos in the early 90's. Published more than 200 times in 45 different
magazines. Bryan has spent the past decade on the front lines perfecting
his craft. No amount of classroom education can prepare a person for the
real world situations.
Bryan was honorably discharged 1987 from the United States Marine Corps,
with a maturity and work ethic that only comes with a real world
education.
Bryan's strong business sense has resulted in a very successful array of
businesses encompassing a wide range of interests. Despite the demands
of these businesses, Bryan has continued to drive his photography
business with the relentless enthusiasm that you only get from doing
something you love.
Two of my great passions
in life are travel and photography. I believe that travel broadens one's
view of the world. Experiencing other cultures, meeting people from
other communities and other countries and seeing the beauty, and
sometimes ugliness, of the world has helped me understand that all of
our lives are at once interconnected and individual. It has made me
better appreciate my own home and culture as well as that of the people
I've met and the lands I've seen and I have become a much more tolerant
person as a result.
Through my photography I
seek to document my own personal experiences, to capture scenes and
events as I see them and to share with others the beauty and diversity
of the world I've seen. As the images of other photographers have
inspired me to explore the world, I hope my own contributions will
inspire others to do the same. I view the art of photography as a
subtractive process, a distilling of reality into a personal vision. As
such I often use the tools of modern photography – different film
stocks, filters, digital enhancement – to try to capture an image that
embodies
emotions I felt at the moment I tripped the camera's shutter
